Introducing IW4x

New year, new game client!

Unlike most (if not all) of the game clients currently out there wich are based on a slightly modified (not for the better) fourDeltaOne's leaked source code, IW4x is a complete rewrite.

This new aproach means that some things are completely different from what we were used to so far. The first big difference is that IW4x doesn't rely on a central masterserver. This means that it can't be taken down like other projects have been over the last times. Seems that this was a client made for the community, not for the clicks and ads.

The rewrite also means that some popular bugs on other clients never even showed up on IW4x (hanging on black screen upon vid_restart, the game lagging when you press tab, etc).

Of course that not having the old known bugs doesn't mean that it won't have it's own bugs, but at least for now there's a development team working on fixing those, whenever they come up.

Server hosting was also re-made. Now dedicated servers can be setup either as "match" servers (the ones that we got used to since aIW times) or "party" servers (similar to game lobbies, but dedicated, and with proper configuration options). Another difference is that now Q and E keys are by default used for leaning.

And on top of that, new maps are being added.

Unlike every other game client wich only supports d3d9, IW4x uses d3d9ex by default, wich in theory means slightly better graphics (I can't find any difference with my old computer, but Wakey says it looks better to him).

Those using our support channel will get automatically patched with everything that you need to be launched into this game client (or maybe you have been already, since the update is live since last night).

If you want to find out more about this game client, or shall you need to manually install it, you can find everything here:

Our 3 servers are there waiting for you to have fun in them! ;)

Downtime expected

As most of you should have notice, we are having some hardware issues on our (Wakey's) server.
Since we are going to replace the server's hard drives, and since I just started my two week vacation, I'm gonna look at this not as an issue, but rather as an opportunity to start some stuff from scratch, and update some of our services. And since the core of our services is going to be rebuilt from scratch, that means some downtime.
When this is over, our forum (this website) should look the same. BFBC2 and MW2 should continue just like it is now. But hopefully, I'll be updating our support channel to bring back support for some games wich I've been lazy to keep updating while I was working outside.
Hopefully, in about a week or so, we will be slightly better. :)

So you noticed

So did you notice the slight down time??

Someone broke the server, I dunt know who, but I have a very good idea who it was (Wolfie) :P :P

Anyhow we are back in business, I need to replace some hard drives on the main server, but hopefully that will be done in the blink of an eye roflmao.gif

Our current stance on MW2

As we've been seeing lately, MW2 projects come and go, each of them more or less bugged.
So, instead of focusing on a single game client and migrate over and over each time a project dies or some unbearable bug comes up on a game client, I decided to go for multiple game clients support.
In the last days, I've been creating game client and dedicated server migration automations. When we launch our Jackdaw 3 MW2 servers, we can choose (the options are currently React, AuraCore or Repz) on wich client we want to host them on, with just the press of a button. It's now really simple for us to just jump to another masterserver if a problem comes up with the game client that we were using.
For those who are using our support channel, it's also that easy to choose on wich game client you want to play on, at the press of a button upon starting the game. I also managed to notify the players on wich client we are hosting our servers, upon game launching. If you don't choose another option, you will be directed to the game client where our servers are being hosted at the moment.
Tonight I'll leave our game servers on AuraCore. It's option 2 on our support tool ;)

Server maintenance

During the next few days (starting right now) I'll be installing and moving our servers to a new OS.

During this process, there will be some downtime, on both our game servers and our TeamSpeak server.

I'll try to do this over night, so that the impact of the downtime remains minimal.

As promised, there will be something new for JD3 members, (even Wakey doesn't have a clue what it is) when all this is done ;)

Christmas came earlier!

Since I want to enjoy a nice Christmas (away from the online demands, if possible) I've been working on something that I know that Wakey really wanted for Christmas...

Our MW3 server is back online! ;)

You guys just start LaunchIW5M.exe that you got from jd3support to get everything that you might need and be launched into the game.

Wakey, take care of the admin passwords.

See ya all in-game! ;)
